Honoring voluntary blood donors.

(Baonghean.vn) - In conjunction with the activities of June 14th - "World Blood Donor Day", on the evening of June 13th, the Provincial Red Cross Society organized a ceremony to honor collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in the voluntary blood donation movement from 2011-2014.

Attending the event were Mr. Le Xuan Dai, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Ms. Nguyen Luong Hong, President of the Provincial Red Cross Society; Red Cross Society staff; representatives from various departments; and a large number of blood donation volunteers from across the province.

Overview of the ceremony

The cultural performance was presented by the Voluntary Blood Donation Propaganda Committee.

Summarizing the movement, Ms. Nguyen Luong Hong, President of the Red Cross Society and Deputy Head of the Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation, stated: Blood is a priceless biological product; there is no substitute for it. Without blood for timely emergency care and treatment, patients will die. Recognizing this, over the years, the voluntary blood donation movement in the province has received attention from all levels and sectors, creating a positive response. In 1995, there were only 3 units of blood; in 2004, there were 2016 units; and by 2013, the province had received 14,116 units of blood.

Ms. Nguyen Luong Hong, chair of the Provincial Red Cross Society, presented a summary report on the blood donation movement from 2011-2013.

Concluding the ceremony, Mr. Le Xuan Dai, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, praised the increasingly widespread development of voluntary blood donation, reflecting the nation's tradition of mutual support and compassion. He requested that the Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation at all levels proactively coordinate with the Red Cross, the health sector, and the Youth Union to improve propaganda work and build organized blood collection systems; and to receive, manage, and use blood resources safely and economically in accordance with State regulations.

Ms. Nguyen Luong Hong, President of the Red Cross Society, presented certificates of merit to outstanding individuals and groups in the blood donation movement.

Comrade Le Xuan Dai summarized the ceremony honoring voluntary blood donors.

On this occasion, the Provincial People's Committee and the Red Cross Society awarded certificates of commendation to 26 collectives and 33 individuals for their noble deeds and active participation in blood donation.
