Honoring voluntary blood donors

(Baonghean.vn) - In celebration of June 14 - "World Blood Donor Day", on the evening of June 13, the Provincial Red Cross Society held a ceremony to honor groups and individuals with outstanding achievements in the voluntary blood donation movement from 2011-2014.

Attending the event were Mr. Le Xuan Dai, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Ms. Nguyen Luong Hong, Chairman of the Provincial Red Cross Association, staff of the Red Cross Association, representatives of departments and branches, and many volunteers donating blood in the province.

Summarizing the movement, Ms. Nguyen Luong Hong, President of the Red Cross Society, Deputy Head of the Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation, said: Blood is a priceless biological product, there is no substitute, without blood for emergency and timely treatment, patients will die. Realizing that, in recent years in the province, the voluntary blood donation movement has received attention from all levels and sectors and has created a positive response. In 1995, there were only 3 units of blood, in 2004 there were 2,016 units of blood, and by 2013 the province had received 14,116 units of blood.

At the end of the ceremony, Comrade Le Xuan Dai - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee praised the results of the Voluntary Blood Donation campaign which has been increasingly developed, demonstrating the tradition of mutual love of the nation. He requested the Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation at all levels to proactively coordinate with the Red Cross, the Health sector and the Youth Union to do better in propaganda work, build an organized blood collection organization; Receive, manage and use blood sources according to State regulations in a safe and economical manner.

On this occasion, the Provincial People's Committee and the Red Cross Society awarded certificates of merit to 26 groups and 33 individuals with noble deeds and active participation in blood donation.
