Eighty-four years ago today, the Communist Party of Vietnam was founded. This was a historical turning point, a glorious milestone in our nation's journey of building and defending the country. From this point on, the Vietnamese revolution had a leading political party guided by Marxist-Leninist ideology, ending a period of deadlock in direction that had plagued generations of patriots before. The Party's birth is closely associated with the name of our beloved President Ho Chi Minh – the founder, leader, and mentor of our Party.

For the past 84 years, the Party has led our entire nation through countless difficulties and challenges, achieving great feats. These include the victory of the August Revolution in 1945, ushering in a new era for the nation; the victories in the resistance wars against foreign invaders, completing the national democratic revolution, unifying the country, and leading the entire nation towards socialism; and the victories of the national renewal process with its enormous and historically significant achievements. These great victories have transformed our people from a state of slavery to masters of their own country and themselves; our nation, from a poor and backward economy, has risen above the poverty line, confidently entering a period of accelerated industrialization, modernization, and international integration.

The past 84 years have affirmed that the correct leadership of the Party is the primary factor determining all the victories of the Vietnamese revolution. Thanks to the Party, our country and our people have the life we have today. However, in the process of leading the country, especially in the nearly 30 years of implementing the reform policy, the Party itself is facing many challenges, and numerous limitations and weaknesses have been slow to be overcome, diminishing the people's trust. Meanwhile, the demands of the country's political tasks are becoming increasingly heavy; hostile and reactionary forces continue to insidiously seek every means to undermine and destroy the Party's prestige, aiming to abolish its leadership role. More than ever, to be worthy of being the organizer and leader of all the victories of the revolution, the Party must constantly innovate, rectify, and maintain its revolutionary nature; remain steadfast in politics and ideology, unified in will and action, and morally and ethically clean.

Article 4 of the amended Constitution, adopted by the 13th National Assembly, continues to affirm the Party's leadership role over our State and the entire society; it also clarifies the Party's responsibility to be closely connected with the people, to serve the people, to be subject to the people's supervision, and to be accountable to the people for its decisions. To strengthen the close relationship between the Party and the people, Resolution No. 7 of the 11th Central Committee on mass mobilization work also clearly states that the driving force behind the people's movement is to promote the people's right to self-governance and meet their practical interests; to harmoniously combine interests; to ensure that rights go hand in hand with civic duties; to do everything that benefits the people and to avoid everything that harms them. Once again, the will of the Party and the aspirations of the people are emphasized, because the Party is only strong when it is closely connected with the people. In the past, during the arduous times of hardship and facing imminent death, every Party official and member was always protected and supported by the people, who were ready to sacrifice their lives to defend them. Today, holding the leadership role over the entire society, the Party must rely on the people, listen to the people, and create conditions for the people to participate in building a Party that is truly a leader and a loyal servant of the people.

Proud of the glorious Party and the great President Ho Chi Minh, every Party organization, every cadre and Party member should highly uphold the glorious traditions of the Party, wholeheartedly serve the people, and be worthy of being a solid support, a source of pride and trust for the people; effectively implement Resolution No. 4 of the 11th Central Committee on Party building, in conjunction with promoting the study and emulation of Ho Chi Minh's moral example. Every cadre and Party member, especially leading and managing cadres at all levels, heads of Party committees, agencies, and units, should uphold the pioneering and exemplary spirit, regularly engage in self-criticism and criticism, and resolutely fight against negative phenomena, corruption, and waste; resolutely push back the decline in political ideology, morality, and lifestyle; and strive to build a cleaner and stronger Party. Proud of the glorious Party, every Vietnamese citizen, whether at home or abroad, should pledge to wholeheartedly and steadfastly advance on the path chosen by the Party and President Ho Chi Minh. Together with the entire Party, we will accelerate the industrialization and modernization of the country and international integration, for a prosperous people, a strong nation, democracy, fairness, and civilization.
