Firmly move forward under the Party's flag

84 years ago today, the Communist Party of Vietnam was born. This was a historic turning point, a brilliant milestone in the journey of building and defending the country of our people. From then on, the Vietnamese revolution had a leading political party following the ideology of Marxism-Leninism, ending the period of deadlock in the path that many previous generations of patriots could not find. The birth of the Party is closely associated with the name of beloved President Ho Chi Minh - the founder, leader and trainer of our Party.

Over the past 84 years, the Party has led our people to overcome countless difficulties and challenges, creating great miracles. That was the victory of the August Revolution in 1945, opening a new era for the nation; the victory of the resistance wars against foreign invaders, completing the people's national democratic revolution, unifying the Fatherland, and moving the whole country towards socialism. That was the victory of the national renewal process with great achievements of historical significance. Those great victories have brought our people from the status of slaves to masters of the country, masters of themselves; our country has risen from a poor, backward economy, overcome the threshold of a poor country, firmly entering the period of promoting industrialization, modernization and international integration.

The past 84 years of practice have affirmed that the correct leadership of the Party is the leading factor determining all victories of the Vietnamese revolution. With the Party, our country and our people can have the life we ​​have today. However, in the process of leading the country, especially in the nearly 30 years of implementing the renovation policy, the Party itself is facing many challenges, many limitations and weaknesses have been slowly overcome, reducing the people's trust. Meanwhile, the political tasks of the country are increasingly difficult; hostile and reactionary forces are still viciously trying to find every way to madly sabotage, aiming to lower the prestige, and eventually demand to abolish the leadership role of our Party. More than ever, to be worthy of being the organizer and leader of all victories of the revolution, the Party must constantly innovate, rectify, maintain its revolutionary nature; be steadfast in politics and ideology, unified in will and action, and clean in morality and lifestyle.

Article 4 of the amended Constitution, passed by the 13th National Assembly, continues to affirm the Party's leadership role over our State and the entire society; at the same time, it further clearly stipulates the Party's responsibility to be closely attached to the people, serve the people, be supervised by the people, and be responsible to the people for its decisions. To strengthen the flesh-and-blood relationship between the Party and the people, Resolution 7 of the 11th Central Committee on mass mobilization work also clearly states that the driving force for the people's movement is to promote the right to mastery, respond to the practical interests of the people; harmoniously combine interests; rights must go hand in hand with civic obligations; do our best to do what is beneficial to the people, and avoid what is harmful to the people. Once again, the Party's will and the people's heart are emphasized, because the Party is only strong when it is closely attached to the people. In the past, in the days of "lying on thorns and tasting gall", facing life and death, each cadre and Party member of the Party was always protected and sheltered by the people, ready to risk their lives to protect them. Today, taking on the role of leading the whole society, the Party must rely on the people, listen to the people, and create conditions for the people to participate in building a Party that is truly a leader and a loyal servant of the people.

Proud of the glorious Party and great Uncle Ho, each Party organization, each cadre and Party member should promote the glorious tradition of the Party, wholeheartedly serve the people, be worthy of being a solid support, pride and trust of the people; effectively implement Resolution 4 of the 11th Central Committee on Party building, associated with promoting the study and following of Ho Chi Minh's moral example. Each cadre and Party member, especially leaders and managers at all levels, heads of Party committees, agencies and units, should uphold the vanguard and exemplary spirit, regularly self-criticize and criticize, resolutely fight against negative phenomena, corruption and waste; resolutely push back the degradation of political ideology, ethics and lifestyle; strive to build an increasingly clean and strong Party. Proud of the glorious Party, each Vietnamese citizen, whether at home or abroad, should vow to wholeheartedly and steadfastly walk on the path chosen by the Party and Uncle Ho; Together with the whole Party, promote industrialization, modernization of the country and international integration, for a rich people, strong country, democracy, fairness and civilization.
