Opening of Vietnam Summer Camp 2014 "My homeland's sea and islands"
With the theme “My Homeland Sea and Islands,” on the evening of July 11, in Ha Long City, Quang Ninh Province, nearly 170 delegates, who are overseas Vietnamese youth with excellent academic achievements and many contributions to the movement of building a united community in the host country, attended the Opening Ceremony of the Vietnam Summer Camp 2014.

In his opening speech, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Nguyen Thanh Son stated that the Vietnam Summer Camp 2014 is an opportunity for overseas Vietnamese youth to gain a deeper understanding of the issue of sovereignty over the country’s seas and islands, the patriotic tradition, cultural roots, and the spirit of solidarity of the 54 ethnic groups; thereby enhancing the pride and love for the homeland and country of overseas Vietnamese youth.
In Quang Ninh, the delegates visited the world natural heritage Ha Long Bay. Especially in the opening ceremony, the delegates participated in exchanges with the youth union members of Quang Ninh province; together singing songs expressing their love for their homeland, praising the land and people of Quang Ninh... After the opening ceremony, there was a campfire and many games organized by the Quang Ninh Youth Union, strengthening the relationship between overseas Vietnamese youth and Quang Ninh youth.
Nguyen Nam Khanh, who returned from the Czech Republic, said: "This time I am very happy and excited to visit Ha Long Bay in Vietnam, to visit the people who are working day and night at sea, and to learn more about the tradition of building and defending the country of my people. When I return to the Czech Republic, I will tell my friends about my people, so that they can understand more about my beloved homeland Vietnam."
The 2014 “My Homeland Sea and Islands” Summer Camp aims to respond to the activities of the whole country for the sovereignty of the sacred sea and islands and to celebrate the great national holidays. The journey of the 2014 Vietnam Summer Camp takes place from July 8-27, with many meaningful activities in many localities across the three regions of the country.
