Nghia Dan: 2nd Congress of Ethnic Minorities in the District

(Baonghean.vn) - On July 9 and 10, Nghia Dan district held the 2nd Congress of Ethnic Minorities of the District.

Attending the event were comrades: Lo Xuan Vinh - Deputy Head of the Provincial Ethnic Minorities Committee, Nguyen Xuan Hai - Deputy Director of the Provincial Department of Finance; Vi Van Dinh - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Secretary of the District Party Committee, Chairman of the District People's Committee, along with representatives of the District Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and district-level departments and agencies, along with 105 delegates representing ethnic minorities in the district.

At the congress, delegates listened to comrade Nguyen Van Nghe - Head of the district's Ethnic Affairs Department report on the results of 5 years of implementing ethnic work and ethnic policies (2009-2013), the direction, goals and tasks of ethnic work until 2020 of the district.

Nghia Dan is a mountainous district, with 3 ethnic groups living together: Kinh, Thai, Tho, of which ethnic minorities account for 30.17%. They live interspersed in most communes, concentrated in some communes such as Nghia Mai, Nghia Tho, Nghia Loi... Each ethnic group has its own cultural features and nuances, contributing to the diversity and richness of the culture imbued with the identity of Nghia Dan district. In recent years, with the attention and direction of the Party Committee and the government; the support and guidance of provincial and central departments, the efforts and joint efforts of the entire Party Committee, government and people of all ethnic groups, Nghia Dan district has achieved encouraging achievements in all aspects. People's lives have gradually improved, the poverty rate has decreased, political security and social order have been basically maintained. People in general and ethnic minorities in particular always trust the leadership of the Party and the State's policies and laws, actively compete in labor production, economic development, poverty reduction, building cultural life, contributing to the successful implementation of socio-economic, defense and security goals set forth by the Resolutions of Party Congresses at all levels.

Welcome performance of the Congress

The congress listened to the units' presentations on economic development, maintaining order, the studious movement, and solidarity in ethnic minority communities, from which they assessed and took appropriate steps in the next phase.

On this occasion, the District People's Committee also awarded 6 collectives and 30 individuals with outstanding achievements in the past term, and sent 17 delegates who are typical examples in various fields to attend the upcoming Congress of Ethnic Minorities in the province.

Previously, on the night of July 9, the district also organized an Art Exchange program to welcome the congress. The performance allowed viewers to enjoy the unique features of the district's ethnic minority culture such as bamboo dance, xoe dance, gongs, creating solidarity among the ethnic groups in the area.
