Vietnam won 7 gold medals at the world pencak silat championship
After seven days of competition at the 2015 world championship, Vietnam's pencak silat team won a total of 17 medals but lost the championship title to Indonesia.
On the final day of competition, in the six final matches of the combat weight classes, there were three Vietnamese boxers participating.
In the 85-90 kg category, Pham The Hung defeated Eldiansyah of Indonesia to win the championship. Meanwhile, Hoang Van Bac defeated Samir Ghanim of the United Kingdom in the under 85 kg category.
The only defeat of the Vietnamese team in this final series was in the 90-95 kg category, when Mach Quoc Hung lost to Sheik Farhan of Singapore.

Previously, Nguyen Thai Linh (men's 60 kg), Nguyen Duy Tuyen (men's 80 kg) and Lo Thi Tuong (women's 75-90 kg) all won gold medals in the combat events.
Winning six gold medals, the Vietnamese team ranked first in the combat category at this year's tournament. However, the performance boxers did not compete successfully and only won one gold medal in the seni category, causing the home team to fail to defend the championship title.
With seven gold medals, seven silver medals, and five bronze medals, Vietnam pencak silat accepted second place. Meanwhile, after losing the championship title three years ago, Indonesia - the cradle of pencak silat, returned to the number one position, with nine gold medals, seven silver medals, and three bronze medals.
Host Thailand also competed successfully with four gold medals, one silver medal, six bronze medals and was in the Top 3 at this year's tournament.
The 16th World Championship took place from January 10 to 16 in Phuket with 450 martial artists from 38 countries and territories competing in 24 sets of combat and performance medals.
At the 15th World Pencak Silat Championship in 2012 in Chiang Rai (Thailand), Vietnam won eight gold medals, nine silver medals, three bronze medals and became the world champion for the first time in history. That same year, our team also won the Asian championship for the first time in Singapore.
