Vietnam wins 7 gold medals at the World Pencak Silat Championships.

At the end of seven days of competition at the 2015 World Pencak Silat Championships, Vietnam won a total of 17 medals but lost the championship title to Indonesia.

On the final day of competition, three Vietnamese fighters participated in the six finals across various weight categories.

In the 85-90 kg category, Pham The Hung defeated Eldiansyah of Indonesia to claim the championship. Meanwhile, Hoang Van Bac overcame Samir Ghanim of the United Kingdom in the under-85 kg category.

The only defeat for the Vietnamese team in this final series was in the 90-95 kg category, when Mach Quoc Hung lost to Sheik Farhan of Singapore.

Vietnamese martial artist Nguyen Thai Linh won the gold medal in the 60 kg men's Nanquan tanding category.

Earlier, Nguyen Thai Linh (men's 60 kg), Nguyen Duy Tuyen (men's 80 kg), and Lo Thi Tuong (women's 75-90 kg) all won gold medals in the sparring events.

With six gold medals, the Vietnamese team ranked first overall in the sparring events at this year's tournament. However, the poomsae (forms) athletes were unsuccessful, winning only one gold medal in the seni (forms) event, preventing the team from successfully defending their championship title.

With seven gold medals, seven silver medals, and five bronze medals, Vietnamese pencak silat accepted second place. Meanwhile, after losing the championship three years ago, Indonesia - the birthplace of pencak silat - returned to the top spot with nine gold medals, seven silver medals, and three bronze medals.

Host nation Thailand also had a successful season, winning four gold medals, one silver medal, and six bronze medals, finishing in the top 3 at this year's competition.

The 16th World Championships, held from January 10th to 16th in Phuket, featured 450 fighters from 38 countries and territories competing for 24 sets of medals in sparring and demonstration events.

At the 15th World Pencak Silat Championships in 2012 in Chiang Rai (Thailand), Vietnam won eight gold medals, nine silver medals, and three bronze medals, claiming the world championship title for the first time in history. That same year, our team also excelled, winning the first ever Asian Championships in Singapore.
