Thailand: Large explosion in shopping district in downtown Bangkok.

Thai police said that on the evening of February 1st, two "homemade" bombs exploded near the bustling Siam Paragon shopping district in the heart of Bangkok, slightly injuring one man.

According to police, the explosion occurred at 8 p.m. (13:00 GMT) near the Siam Paragon shopping mall, a popular area for tourists and locals. Initially, police believed it was an electrical short circuit.

However, later, Thai National Police spokesperson Prawut Thavornsiri said that investigations revealed two improvised explosive devices had detonated. Prawut Thavornsiri stated, "Two improvised bombs exploded on the walkway between the Siam BTS elevated rail station and the Siam Paragon shopping mall. They were hidden inside electrical boxes."

According to Mr. Prawut Thavornsiri, the investigation is still ongoing.
