MU 2-1 Everton: Goalkeeper shines

Di Maria scored and assisted in Manchester United's 2-1 victory over Everton. However, the Red Devils' win was also largely thanks to De Gea's numerous saves, including a penalty save.

Manager Van Gaal made two changes compared to the win against West Ham. Mata replaced the suspended Rooney and Valencia filled the position of the injured Herrera.

This was the match where Van Persie was given the captain's armband by his compatriot coach, while Fellaini was on the bench against his former team.

MU were the better team in the early stages of the first half. With more composure and luck, the home team could have scored the opening goal early on after shots from Falcao and Van Persie inside the opponent's penalty area.

In the 27th minute, the score was opened after Di Maria's shot inside the penalty area. In the final minute of added time in the first half, a mistake by Shaw led to a penalty for MU. But De Gea made an excellent save from Baines' penalty kick from 11 meters.

In the second half, Baines redeemed himself with a pass to Naismith, who headed the ball into the net from close range. However, shortly after, Falcao made a clever run following Di Maria's "half-pass, half-shot" to help MU regain the lead.

In the final minutes of the match, under pressure from Everton, De Gea made two outstanding saves, helping the Red Devils secure two points for the Old Trafford side.
