A warm Lunar New Year celebration in the highlands.
(Baonghean.vn) - With just over 24 hours left until the Year of the Goat, the atmosphere of Tet preparations is spreading to every village in the highlands. Everyone wants to have a peaceful and well-prepared Tet holiday.
In the mountainous district of Con Cuong, the busiest area is still the central market. In the days leading up to Tet (Lunar New Year), the number of people flocking to shop has increased many times compared to normal days. The security forces are also working quite hard. The only ATM of the Agricultural Bank in the district is always crowded. However, there have been no reports of running out of cash or network congestion.

According to feedback from Tet shoppers, the significant drop in gasoline prices has had a positive impact on Tet holiday prices. Consequently, the prices of Tet goods have increased, but not significantly. Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh (Tien Thanh village - Chi Khe - Con Cuong) said: "Every year, prices always increase sharply during Tet, but this year they've only gone up slightly."
In most villages, the spring rice planting is complete, so people are somewhat at ease preparing for Tet (Lunar New Year). As is customary, every year the Thai people in Lien Dinh village (Chi Khe) decorate each house with red flags bearing a yellow star. Before slaughtering the pig (on the 30th day of the lunar month), they go to the graves of their ancestors to clear, beautify, and invite their ancestors to celebrate Tet. In the evening, they hold a ceremony to call the spirits back for Tet. People believe that each person has many different spirits. These spirits may be wandering somewhere and need to be called back for Tet, especially in families with young children.

Thanks to the care of the Party and the State, the local authorities, and charitable organizations, they have been able to enjoy a warm and prosperous Tet holiday. In the days leading up to Tet, the Dan Lai people drive their motorboats to the commune center to receive rice for the holiday.
