Ka-28 pilots of the 954th Brigade successfully conducted a training flight on landing and taking off aboard the Gepard 3.9 missile frigate.

Currently, the 954th Air Brigade of the Vietnam Navy has modern Ka-28 anti-submarine helicopters in its inventory. Recently, the Brigade has conducted numerous training flights to enhance the capabilities of its young pilots. Due to the specific nature of operating helicopters at sea, the pilots of the 954th Brigade need experience in handling various unforeseen situations.

The Navy currently has two missile frigates capable of accommodating helicopters: HQ-011 Dinh Tien Hoang and HQ-012 Ly Thai To. When operating alongside these missile frigates, the Ka-28 helicopter can perform tasks such as reconnaissance, maritime patrol, and submarine detection and destruction.

Taking off and landing (especially landing) on ​​a ship is not simple. To perform a precise landing on a ship amidst the shaking and spinning caused by sea waves and helicopter rotors, close coordination is required between all involved during the flight. A precise landing will make the process of towing the aircraft into the ship's hangar much easier.

Successfully completing this training exercise is the foundation for Ka-28 pilots of the 954th Brigade to perform more complex flight exercises such as long-distance flights, multi-hour flights over the sea, and night flights... ensuring high efficiency in reconnaissance, detection, and targeting of underwater and surface targets.
