The Navy currently has two missile frigates capable of receiving helicopters, the HQ-011 Dinh Tien Hoang and the HQ-012 Ly Thai To. When operating with missile frigates, the Ka-28 helicopter will perform missions such as reconnaissance, maritime patrol, searching for and destroying submarines, etc.
Taking off and landing (especially landing) on a ship is not simple. To be able to perform accurate landing operations on a ship under the conditions of shaking and rotating due to the influence of sea waves and helicopter blades, it is required that the relevant positions coordinate closely during the flight. Accurate landing will make the process of pulling the aircraft into the ship's hold easier.
Performing this training well is the premise for the Ka-28 pilots of Brigade 954 to perform more complex flights such as: long-distance flights, long-hour flights over the sea, night flights... ensuring the process of reconnaissance, detection, and indication of underground and surface targets is highly effective.
