Opening Ceremony of the National First Division Chess Championship

On April 3rd, the 2015 National First Division Chess Championship opened in Vung Tau City (Ba Ria-Vung Tau province).

The tournament promises to feature many exciting competitions of high professional quality.

The tournament brings together 48 male and 17 female chess players from 11 traditional chess teams such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Binh Duong, the Ministry of Public Security, etc. This year, the Ba Ria-Vung Tau delegation has 4 players: two national masters, Duong Nghiep Luong and Nguyen Dai Thang; reserve master Le Phan Trong Tin; and Nguyen Thanh Tuan - a national level 1 player.

Players will compete in two individual championships: men's and women's, using a format of 11 rounds for men and 9 rounds for women.

With the participation of almost all of the nation's strongest players today, such as Dao Cao Khoa, Lai Ly Huynh (Binh Duong), Trenh A Sang (Ho Chi Minh City), Vo Van Hoang Tung (Da Nang) in the men's category; Nguyen Phi Liem (Binh Duong), Pham Thu Ha (Hanoi), Nguyen Hoang Yen, Dam Thi Thuy Dung (Ho Chi Minh City) in the women's category, the tournament promises many exciting competitions with high professional standards.

Based on the results of this tournament, the organizing committee will select players to participate in national and international tournaments in 2015.

The competition runs until April 10th.
