The 5th Provincial "Exemplary Veterans" Patriotic Emulation Congress

(Baonghean.vn) - On October 23, the Provincial Veterans Association solemnly held the 5th "Exemplary Veterans" Patriotic Emulation Congress and the Ceremony to receive the Third Class Independence Medal.

Attending the Congress were Lieutenant General Nguyen Song Phi - Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Veterans Association, representing Military Region 4. On the provincial side, there were comrade Huynh Thanh Dien - Member of the Provincial Party Committee - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, representatives of leaders of provincial departments, branches, agencies, agencies of the Provincial Military Command, Provincial Border Guard, Provincial Police, representatives of the Armed Forces Heroes and nearly 140 delegates representing nearly 170,000 Veterans Association members in Uncle Ho's homeland.

Next, the Nghe An Provincial Veterans Association was honored to receive the Third Class Independence Medal from the President. On this occasion, the Central Executive Committee of the Vietnam Veterans Association also presented Commemorative Medals to 23 leaders of the Provincial Party Committee, Provincial People's Committee, provincial agencies and departments for their many contributions to the activities of the Provincial Veterans Association.

The Congress focused on evaluating the emulation movement "Exemplary war veterans" in the period of 2009 - 2014, affirming the achieved results, pointing out shortcomings and limitations, analyzing the causes and drawing lessons on the organization and operation of emulation. On that basis, it determined the direction, goals and main contents and measures to continue improving the quality and effectiveness of the emulation movement in the new period.

The summary report of the Patriotic Emulation Movement "Exemplary Veterans" in 5 years (2009 - 2014) clearly stated the contributions of all levels of the Veterans Association and its members across the province in all fields. The emulation movement has focused on implementing the core and most important tasks of participating in building and protecting the Party, the government, the socialist regime, the people, and building the great national unity bloc.

The emulation movement to reduce poverty and strive to get rich over the past 5 years has seen the emergence of thousands of models and typical economic models of war veterans with annual incomes ranging from tens of millions to billions of VND. The entire provincial association currently has 511 enterprises, 11 cooperatives, 82 cooperative groups, 2,047 farms, 6,643 households, attracting more than 31,000 workers. The emulation movement to mobilize members and war veterans' families to actively respond to campaigns and movements in the locality continues to be clearly demonstrated through the emulation movement "Exemplary war veterans, joining hands and wholeheartedly building new rural areas" launched by the Standing Committee of the Provincial War Veterans Association. From 2010 to September 2014, 53,306 war veteran households donated 2,689,934m2 of rice fields and gardens; donated assets on land worth 35,728 billion VND; 46,675 war veterans contributed over 18,000 working days to build 408 new rural projects. The Congress also listened to the delegates' presentations on their experiences and achievements in the emulation movement, and at the same time, commended and honored 5,835 typical individuals who have achieved many outstanding achievements in the Association's fields of operation over the past 5 years.

Speaking at the Congress, Comrade Huynh Thanh Dien - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee reported on a number of achievements in all aspects of socio-economic development of the province in the past time. Up to now, 25/34 main targets have exceeded and achieved the goals set by the 17th Provincial Party Congress. Many criteria in various fields have been consolidated, maintained and developed. The achievements of the province in the past time have had important contributions from all levels of the association and members of the Association of War Veterans and Veterans of the province.

On behalf of the provincial leaders, comrade Huynh Thanh Dien requested that all levels of the provincial association and members of the provincial War Veterans Association pay attention to 5 main contents. Second, continue to promote the emulation movement of not accepting poverty, competing to get rich legally among the War Veterans. Third, regularly coordinate to carry out mass mobilization work well, effectively participate in local movements. Fourth, with their enthusiasm and experience, generations of War Veterans continue to pay attention to educating the younger generation about traditions. Fifth, continue to innovate the content, methods, activities, and forms of gathering War Veterans and veterans, consolidate and build the association in remote areas, ethnic minority areas, etc.

On this occasion, the Central Committee of the Veterans Association awarded Emulation Flags to 3 units, Certificates of Merit to 16 groups, the Provincial People's Committee awarded Certificates of Merit to 7 individuals and 16 groups, the Provincial Veterans Association awarded Certificates of Merit to 19 individuals and 76 groups for their achievements and results in the emulation movement over the past 5 years. The Congress also elected 12 delegates to attend the upcoming National Emulation Congress of "Exemplary Veterans".
