Vietnam and the Eurasian Economic Union are about to sign an FTA agreement.
According to Sputnik, on March 17, speaking at the workshop "Transport chain management in the context of economic recession," Mr. Andrei Slepnyov, Minister of Trade of the Eurasian Economic Commission, said that the Agreement on the free trade area (FTA) between the Eurasian Economic Union and Vietnam may be signed in May this year.

"We are currently in the final stages of negotiations with Vietnam. In fact, the negotiations have ended and we are completing technical revisions to the text. We hope to hold a signing ceremony in May," he said.
The Eurasian Economic Commission's Trade Minister added that "the Commission sees this prospect as well as the desire from the Vietnamese side."
Mr. Slepnyov noted that this will be the first agreement with a fairly large economy, "so we obviously need to accumulate experience."
