Vietnam and the Eurasian Economic Union are about to sign a Free Trade Agreement (FTA).

According to Sputnik, speaking at the seminar "Transportation Chain Management in the Context of Economic Recession" on March 17, Andrei Slepnyov, Minister of Trade of the Eurasian Economic Commission, said that the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the Eurasian Economic Union and Vietnam could be signed in May of this year.

He said: "We are currently in the final stages of negotiations with Vietnam. In fact, the negotiations have concluded, and we are finalizing the technical aspects of the text. We hope to hold the signing ceremony in May."

The Minister of Trade of the Eurasian Economic Commission added that "the Commission sees this prospect as well as the desire from Vietnam."

Mr. Slepnyov noted that this would be the first agreement with a fairly large economy, "so obviously we need to accumulate experience."
