(Baonghean.vn) - As of Sunday, November 2, within just 10 days, the Islamic State organization IS has executed more than 200 civilians in the western region of Iraq. According to sources, their victims are mainly people of the Sunni Albounimer tribe - a tribe that IS considers as the enemy of this terrorist group in Al-Anbar province.

In the past 10 days, most of the victims of IS have been women and children. Recent photographs show the bodies of 30 people, mostly children and young men, lying on a bloody street. In February, the extremist jihadists took over Al-Anbar province – a province stretching from the Iraqi capital Baghdad to Syria. In eastern Iraq, in Salahuddin province, the jihadists kidnapped dozens of members of the Joubour tribe, according to local authorities. In recent times, the Joubour tribe has taken up arms against IS.

Authorities fear an increase in attacks by radical Islamic jihadists on Shiites, who are considered heretics by the Islamic State group. There have been a number of recent IS attacks on Shiite pilgrims visiting the holy city of Karbala. On Saturday, 24 people were killed in Baghdad. On Sunday, another 13 pilgrims were killed in an attack southwest of the capital.

“The danger has become greater in recent times. Terrorism has never been as prevalent as it is now,” Iraqi police said. The anniversary of Hussein’s death is the most important holiday for Shiites, who make a pilgrimage to the city of Karbala where Hussein was beheaded.
