At 12 noon on December 18th, the remains of Sergeant Truong Van Tu (20 years old) were brought back to his hometown (Hamlet 1, Dien Truong Commune, Dien Chau District, Nghe An Province). Sergeant Tu died just under a month before his discharge from the army and returning home to his family.

Unlike usual, it was already 11 a.m., but the house of Mr. Truong Van Chien (Sergeant Tu's father) was still crowded with people. Around 12 noon, the vehicle carrying Sergeant Tu's coffin arrived at the end of the alley. Many people couldn't hold back their tears in this sacred moment, seeing his coffin wrapped in the red flag with a yellow star. The poor people here all mourned Sergeant Tu, who was only about a month away from being discharged from the army and returning home to his family. Tears streamed down the weathered faces of the farmers who spent their lives working in the fields.

Mr. Truong Minh Duc (58 years old, Sergeant Tu's uncle) shared that upon receiving the tragic news, Tu's older brother and he took a bus to Da Nang at 11:30 PM on December 16th. After holding a memorial service for Tu in Da Nang, at around 11 PM last night (December 17th), his body was transported by car back to his hometown for burial.

“Tu was a filial son. When he was in high school, due to family circumstances, his parents had to go work far away. Tu had to stay home alone and take care of himself. More than a month ago, Tu came home to visit his family, and he even said he was about to be reunited with them, but then…” – Mr. Duc recounted.

It is known that in 2013, after graduating from high school, Truong Van Tu enlisted in the navy and embarked on his sacred duty to the Fatherland. He was then sent to study military nursing and assigned to Unit 885, Engineering Brigade E83 (Navy) to perform his duties.

On December 16th, while on duty, he passed away.
