A California woman who cleaned out her home after her husband died took his “scrap” to an electronics recycling center, according to the recycling company CleanBayArea. What she didn’t expect was that her husband’s “scrap” contained an Apple I, one of the first 200 computers designed by Steve Wozniak and his friends in 1976, which is worth up to $200,000. CleanBayArea is currently trying to contact the anonymous woman, but it seems the search is in vain.

In 1976, the Apple I was one of the first personal computers and sold for $666.66. At that time, the Apple I was designed quite simply, with no screen and only 8KB of RAM. Later, the Apple II appeared more successful than the Apple I and quickly became the pioneer of the laptop line.

In the 1970s and 1980s, computers were not produced on the industrial scale they are today. In addition, the Apple I was produced in small quantities and was considered a symbol of the “success story” of new technology, so many collectors were willing to pay a large sum to own this product. It is known that an Apple I on display at the Smithsonian Museum in Washington is worth up to $900,000.
