(Baonghean.vn) - On June 22, the People's Committee of Nghe An province held a conference to review the project "Strengthening the dissemination of legal education for officials and people in border and island areas during the period 2014-2016."

The project "Strengthening the Dissemination of Legal Education for Officials and People in Border and Island Areas" in Phase 1 (2014-2016) in the border areas of the province was implemented seriously, diversely, and appropriately, closely adhering to the plan and requirements of the project. Agencies and units focused on disseminating practical legal knowledge to officials and people in border and island areas regarding their rights and obligations, such as: the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea; the Agreement on the Delimitation of the Gulf of Tonkin between Vietnam and China; the Agreement on Fisheries Cooperation between Vietnam and China; the Constitution of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam; the Criminal Law; the Land Law; the Law on National Borders; the Vietnamese Law on the Sea; the Law on Complaints and Denunciations; the Law on Marriage and Family; Government Decree 161 on the Regulation of the Maritime Border; and Decree 34 on the Regulation of the Land Border...

Comrade Le Xuan Dai suggested that the Steering Committee of the project pay attention to overcoming existing shortcomings and continue to select and replicate good models and methods to widely disseminate legal information in 56 communes, wards, towns, border areas, and islands.

These contents have been disseminated through various theatrical, visual, and lively forms, delving into specific cases suitable to the actual conditions of each locality, contributing to raising awareness, understanding of the law, and compliance with the law among officials and people in border and island areas in recent times.

Speaking at the conference, Comrade Le Xuan Dai, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, and Head of the Steering Committee for the project, highly appreciated the results achieved in the dissemination and education of law in the province in the past period.

In the coming period, the Steering Committee of the project will focus on overcoming existing shortcomings, continuing to select and widely replicate successful models and practices in 56 communes, wards, towns, border areas, and islands; through the local broadcasting system, organizing Law Day at agencies and units, conducting mobile trials of key cases; strengthening advisory work, urging and inspecting implementation at the grassroots level regularly, and proactively compiling materials to best carry out the work of disseminating and educating the public on the law in border and island areas in the coming time.

The Provincial People's Committee awarded certificates of commendation to outstanding collectives and individuals for their achievements in implementing the project.

On this occasion, the Provincial People's Committee awarded Certificates of Commendation to 6 collectives and 5 individuals for their outstanding achievements in disseminating and educating the public on legal matters in border and island areas during the period from 2014 to 2016.
