Strengthening dissemination and education of laws in border and island areas

(Baonghean.vn)- On June 22, the People's Committee of Nghe An province held a conference to review the project "Strengthening the dissemination of legal education for officials and people in border and island areas for the period 2014-2016".

Comrade Le Xuan Dai, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee chaired the conference.

Overview of the meeting.

The project "Strengthening the dissemination of legal education for officials and people in border and island areas" in phase 1 (2014-2016) in the province's border areas has been seriously implemented, diversely, richly, appropriately, closely following the plan and requirements of the project. Agencies and units have focused on disseminating to officials and people in border and island areas practical legal knowledge related to their rights and obligations in border and island areas such as: the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, the Agreement on the Delimitation of the Gulf of Tonkin between Vietnam and China, the Agreement on Vietnam-China Fisheries Cooperation, the Constitution of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Criminal Code, the Land Law, the Law on National Borders, the Law on the Sea of ​​Vietnam, the Law on Complaints and Denunciations, the Law on Marriage and Family; Decree 161 of the Government on maritime border regulations, Decree 34 on land border regulations...

Comrade Le Xuan Dai suggested that the Project Steering Committee pay attention to overcoming existing problems, continue to select and replicate good models and practices to widely propagate the law in 56 communes, wards, towns, border areas and islands.

These contents are propagated in many forms of dramatization, visual, vivid, focusing on each specific case suitable to the actual conditions of each locality, contributing to raising awareness, understanding of the law and sense of law compliance for officials and people in border and island areas in recent times.

Speaking at the conference, Comrade Le Xuan Dai, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the project's Steering Committee highly appreciated the results achieved in the dissemination and popularization of legal education in the recent past in the province.

In the coming time, the Steering Committee of the project will pay attention to overcoming existing shortcomings, continue to select and widely replicate good models and practices in 56 communes, wards, towns, border areas and islands; through the local radio system, organize law days at agencies and units, conduct mobile trials of typical cases; strengthen advisory work, urge regular inspection of implementation at the grassroots level, and proactively compile documents, in order to best implement the work of disseminating and educating the law to people in border areas and islands in the coming time.

The Provincial People's Committee awarded certificates of merit to outstanding collectives and individuals in implementing the project.

On this occasion, the Provincial People's Committee awarded Certificates of Merit to 06 collectives and 05 individuals who had outstanding achievements in disseminating and educating the law in border and island areas from 2014 to 2016.
