Compulsory participation in social insurance for employees with contracts of less than 3 months

That is the new content stipulated in the Social Insurance Law 2014 which was just passed by the National Assembly at the 8th session - 13th National Assembly.

Accordingly, from January 1, 2018, employees working under labor contracts with a term of 1 month to less than 3 months must participate in compulsory social insurance.

Also from January 1, 2018, foreign employees entering Vietnam to work with a work permit or practice certificate or practice license as prescribed are eligible to participate in compulsory social insurance.

In addition, the Law also adds a number of new subjects that must participate in compulsory social insurance from January 1, 2016.

This Law replaces the 2006 Law on Social Insurance./.
