Chau Hanh and the concrete road construction movement.
(Baonghean.vn) -Chau Hanh commune is not a pilot commune for the new rural development program in the mountainous district of Quy Chau. However, in 2014, Chau Hanh commune was allocated a target of concreting 4.2 km of village roads. Thanks to its practical effectiveness and appropriate approach, the rural road construction program in Chau Hanh commune has received widespread support from the people. Particularly noteworthy is the movement to donate land for road construction.
During our visit to Ke Bon village, Chau Hanh commune, we were truly impressed by the smooth, concrete-paved village roads. Mr. Lang Trong Kham, the village head, happily shared: "After the upgrade plan was implemented, the village has constructed six internal village roads with a total length of over 750 meters. To complete these roads, the villagers had to cut down 197 trees, demolish 1,095 square meters of fences, five iron gates, two kiosks, and fill in two wells… with a total value of nearly 1 billion VND. Notable examples in this movement include the families of Mr. Lu Trung Hoa, Mr. Lang Cong, and Mrs. Lang Thi Lien... Or the family of Mr. Vi Van Chuyen, who, despite not being subject to relocation, voluntarily cut down dozens of valuable old trees and contributed millions of VND in cash." “My house is far from the road, but I think that as a Party member, if I don't set an example now, no one else will follow. Although it's a bit of a sacrifice, in return, the roads are now convenient, clean, and the village looks much better,” Mr. Chuyen shared. The people of Ke Bon also contributed money to buy 256.5 square meters of land.3crushed stone, 234.6 m3They used sand and mobilized over a thousand man-days of labor to build the roads. To date, 100% of the internal village roads have been paved with concrete.

According to Mr. Vi Van Hanh, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Chau Hanh commune, not only Ke Bon village, but also Dong Minh, Minh Tien, Ta Lanh, Na Xen, Na Ca, Ta Soi, Khe Han, and Minh Chau villages have completed 100% of their village and hamlet roads. During the implementation process, the people demonstrated a spirit of solidarity, working together and mobilizing all resources to create a competitive movement among households, villages, and roads. By the end of August 2014, Chau Hanh commune had completed 32 internal village roads with a total length of 4.2 km.
Despite facing many challenges, with innovative approaches and leveraging the local resources, Chau Hanh commune has achieved encouraging results. Going forward, the locality will actively complete the remaining village roads under the government's cement support mechanism, with a total registered length of up to 10 km.
