Two types of stomach medication deemed substandard have been suspended from circulation.

The Hanoi Department of Health has issued a document to units within the industry, non-public medical facilities, and related companies suspending the circulation of Prazovite enteric-coated tablets imported by Vimedimex Pharmaceutical Joint Stock Company and Mirazole tablets imported by Sohaco Pharmaceutical and Trading Group Joint Stock Company.

These two medications for treating stomach and duodenal ulcers failed to meet quality standards regarding solubility.

Prazovite enteric-coated tablets (Pantoprazole 40mg), registration number VN-8095-09, batch number U060211401, expiry date 12/01/2017, manufactured by U Square Lifescience Pvt.Ltd., India, and imported by Vimedimex Pharmaceutical Joint Stock Company.

Mirazole (Lansoprazol 30mg capsule), registration number VN-12871-11, batch number MZV004, manufacturing date 10/6/2014, expiry date 9/6/2017) is manufactured by Miracle Labs Ltd., India, and imported by Sohaco Pharmaceutical and Trading Group Joint Stock Company.

The Department of Health requests the Hanoi branch of Vimedimex Pharmaceutical Joint Stock Company and Sohaco Pharmaceutical and Trading Group Joint Stock Company to coordinate with suppliers and distributors to send recall reports to wholesale, retail, and user establishments, and to proceed with the recall of all batches of the aforementioned substandard drugs, and to send the recall report to the Hanoi Department of Health.

Public and private healthcare facilities are reviewing and recalling batches of substandard drugs. District and county health departments are notifying healthcare facilities and pharmacies, and inspecting the suspension of the circulation of substandard drugs within their jurisdiction.

The Department of Health also assigned its inspection department as a permanent body, coordinating with functional departments to inspect and supervise the recall, reporting of recalls, and handling of recalled drugs.
