First photos of the 2015 Mazda BT-50.
The first images of the Mazda BT-50, the second most popular pickup truck in Vietnam, have leaked on Thai social media, highlighting the Kodo design language that is becoming popular in the Japanese automaker's passenger car models.
Specifically, the Kodo design language – the soul of motion – is easily recognizable at the front of the car, sharing many similarities with the 2016 Mazda6 sedan, most notably the smaller grille with more chrome details. The headlights have been redesigned based on the previous facelift of this model, while the front bumper and fog lights are positioned lower.
One notable change is that Mazda's winged logo is now positioned in the middle of a horizontal slat in the grille, instead of in the upper half as in the previous version. Images of the rear of the vehicle and the interior have not yet been revealed. The 2015 Mazda BT-50 is expected to debut in Australia and Thailand this fall.

Consumers are anticipating new options from its Ford Ranger sibling, also available on the 2015 Mazda BT-50, including 2WD and 4WD versions using a 2.2-liter TDCI diesel engine and a 3.2-liter TDCI turbocharged diesel engine, paired with a 6-speed automatic or manual transmission. The 2.2-liter engine produces 150 horsepower and 375 Nm of torque, while the 3.2-liter version delivers 200 horsepower and 470 Nm of torque.
In Vietnam, the Mazda BT-50, along with the Ford Ranger, are the two most popular pickup trucks on the market. In 2014, BT-50 sales reached 2,200 units, a significant increase compared to the previous year; in the first four months of 2015 alone, sales reached nearly 1,400 units, almost three times higher than the same period last year.
Currently, the Mazda BT-50 is available in 3 versions, using 2 types of diesel engines: a 2.2-liter engine (148 hp at 3,700 rpm, 375 Nm of torque at 1,500-2,500 rpm) and a 3.2-liter engine (198 hp at 3,000 rpm, 470 Nm at 2,750-2,500 rpm), with announced after-tax prices ranging from 673 to 810 million VND.
