The first image of the second most popular pickup truck in Vietnam - Mazda BT-50 - has just been leaked on Thai social networks with the highlight of the Kodo design language that is popular for the Japanese car company's passenger cars.

Specifically, the Kodo design language - soul of motion - is easily recognized right at the front of the car with many similarities with the 2016 Mazda6 sedan, in which the highlight is the smaller radiator grille with many chrome details. The headlight cluster is redesigned on the upgraded previous version of this model, while the front bumper and fog lights are designed lower.

One notable point is that Mazda's bird-wing logo is located in the middle of a horizontal bar in the radiator grille, instead of in the upper half like the old version. Currently, the rear of the car and the interior have not been revealed. The 2015 Mazda BT-50 is expected to debut in Australia and Thailand this fall.

Consumers are waiting for new options from the Ford Ranger brother, which are also available on the Mazda BT-50 2015, including 1-wheel drive and 2-wheel drive versions using a 2.2-liter TDCI diesel engine and a 3.2-liter TDCI turbocharged diesel engine, with a 6-speed automatic or manual transmission. The 2.2-liter engine produces 150 horsepower and 375 Nm, while the 3.2-liter version produces 200 horsepower and 470 Nm.

In Vietnam, Mazda BT-50 and Ford Ranger are the two best-selling pickup trucks on the market. In 2014, BT-50 sales reached 2,200 units, a sharp increase compared to the previous year; in the first 4 months of 2015 alone, sales reached nearly 1,400 units, nearly triple the same period last year.

Currently, Mazda BT-50 has 3 versions, using 2 types of diesel engines: 2.2 liter (148 horsepower at 3,700 rpm, torque of 375 Nm at 1,500-2,500 rpm) and 3.2 liter (198 horsepower at 3,000 rpm, 470 Nm at 2,750-2,500 rpm), with announced after-tax prices ranging from 673 to 810 million VND.
