Launching a campaign to create posters promoting traffic safety.

On the afternoon of June 9, 2015, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Information and Communications, Deputy Minister Truong Minh Tuan presided over the launching ceremony of the 2015 Traffic Safety Propaganda Poster Design Competition.

This is an initiative of the Ministry of Information and Communications to implement the "2015 Road Safety Year" plan of the National Road Safety Committee.

In his opening remarks at the launching ceremony, Deputy Minister Truong Minh Tuan shared: “Traffic safety is one of the top concerns of the country today. Raising awareness to influence the psychology and behavior of road users is a crucial solution to ensure traffic safety.”

Over the years, information and communication efforts regarding traffic safety have been intensified with diverse content, mobilizing the combined strength of the entire political system, all levels and sectors from the central to local governments, and the entire population. These traffic safety awareness campaigns have contributed to curbing and reducing the number of traffic accidents in our country.

In implementing the traffic safety awareness campaign for the period 2013-2015, approved by the Prime Minister in Decision 2043 dated November 5, 2013, the Ministry of Information and Communications has proactively carried out many traffic safety awareness activities. Local authorities have created many innovative and effective approaches, disseminating many good models, bringing traffic safety awareness campaigns to a deeper, more regular, continuous, and long-term level. Mass media and grassroots information systems have employed various appropriate methods of disseminating information about traffic safety, attracting the participation of many segments of the population.

Thanks to this, the Party's directives and resolutions on traffic safety have been conveyed and quickly put into practice, gradually permeating every citizen, family, neighborhood, hamlet, and village.

"The propaganda work has made a positive contribution to the achievements in ensuring traffic safety in the past period, contributing to the successful implementation of the country's political, economic, cultural, and social tasks."

Deputy Minister Truong Minh Tuan also emphasized: "The competition for creating propaganda posters about traffic safety is a meaningful activity for artists, citizens, etc., to express their thoughts through creative works, diversifying the forms of traffic safety propaganda."

The competition was organized to innovate the dissemination and education of traffic safety laws to all segments of the population, aiming to raise awareness of voluntary compliance with traffic laws, promote the development of a traffic culture, and enhance the effectiveness of state management in tightening the management of transportation businesses and controlling vehicle load limits.

Highly appreciating the initiative of the Ministry of Information and Communications, Mr. Khuat Viet Hung, Vice Chairman in charge of the National Traffic Safety Committee, commented: “No matter how long a directive is, it is often not as valuable as a painting. Because sometimes a painting is worth a thousand words. Hopefully, the competition will provide spiritual ‘food’ about traffic safety that is not dry and boring, so that everyone who sees the artwork will be motivated to comply with traffic safety regulations.”

Announcing the competition rules, Mr. Doan Cong Huynh, Director of the Department of Grassroots Information, Ministry of Information and Communications, stated: All Vietnamese citizens aged 18 and above (as of January 1, 2015) can submit entries without limit. Entries must be 54cm x 79cm in size, with no restrictions on materials, colors, or style.

The competition's themes focus on key issues such as: Strictly adhering to traffic laws; Traffic rules; Wearing helmets; Not drinking alcohol before driving; Tightening management of transportation businesses and controlling vehicle load limits with the goal of "Human lives are paramount"; Criticizing acts of drinking alcohol and resisting law enforcement...

The Organizing Committee will award 21 prizes, including 1 first prize worth 25 million VND; 2 second prizes, each worth 15 million VND; 3 third prizes, each worth 10 million VND; and 15 consolation prizes, each worth 3 million VND.

In addition to the 21 winning entries, the Organizing Committee will select a number of entries with high artistic quality and good propaganda content for exhibition.

The Organizing Committee retains all submitted works and owns the copyright to them. The Ministry of Information and Communications has the right to print and reproduce the submitted works in publications and mass media, and to use them for nationwide dissemination and promotion in accordance with the law.
