Blood donation event "Drops of Red from Nghe An"

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of July 22nd, in Vinh City, the Central "Red Journey" Delegation, in coordination with the Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation in Nghe An province, organized the "Drop of Red in Nghe An" blood donation festival. This event is part of a series of activities in response to the 2015 "Red Journey" program, organized annually by the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion.

The opening ceremony was attended by Dr. Bach Quoc Khanh - Deputy Director of the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion. Representing the province were Mr. Hoang Viet Duong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, along with leaders from relevant departments and agencies.

With the slogan "Connecting Vietnamese Bloodlines," the "Red Journey" aims to raise public awareness about voluntary blood donation and promote prevention and control of Thalassemia, a congenital blood disorder.

Participating in the "Drop of Red in Nghe An" blood donation event were youth union members, volunteers, officials, and employees from Vinh City and various agencies and businesses in the province.

The goal of the "Red Journey 2015" in Nghe An is to attract at least 1,300 registered voluntary blood donors; it is expected to receive a minimum of 600 units of safe blood. The donated blood will be transferred to the National Center for Hematology and Blood Transfusion.

“The Red Journey – Connecting Vietnamese Blood” travels through 22 provinces and cities, including Nghe An. This is a cross-Vietnam program with profound humanitarian significance, calling on all citizens to participate in blood donation to save lives; demonstrating the love, compassion, and sharing spirit of the Vietnamese people. Through this, blood donation activities are organized to make a significant contribution to overcoming the shortage of blood in emergency and medical treatment.
