(Baonghean.vn) -Following the directives of Mr. Dinh Viet Hong, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, the Management Board of the Southeast Economic Zone, in coordination with the People's Committee of Nghi Loc district, is urgently implementing measures to address the landslide caused by heavy rain in the Nghi Thuan bridge area, Nghi Loc district, part of the N5 road project (section 2) in the Southeast Economic Zone.

The construction unit mobilized equipment to dredge the riverbed, restoring the flow of water.

Accordingly, from September 19th, the Management Board of the Southeast Economic Zone directed the construction unit, Thanh Hoa Transport Company No. 1, to demolish the service road and mobilize three excavators to continuously dredge and clear the waterway at the Nghi Thuan bridge construction site, minimizing erosion that could affect households along the riverbank.

A 200-meter section of the right bank of the Cam River in Hamlet 10, Nghi Thuan Commune, has been eroded and is currently being repaired.

By September 23rd, the construction unit had dredged over 10,000 cubic meters of soil and rock, essentially clearing and widening the waterway that had been obstructed by the temporary road. The Nghi Loc District People's Committee directed the District Compensation and Land Clearance Council and the Nghi Thuan Commune People's Committee to inventory the assets and structures of affected households on the riverbank where erosion occurred and to develop a detailed plan for relocating these households if the incident continues to occur during heavy rains.

Currently, the Southeast Economic Zone Management Board is continuing to direct the construction unit to fill in the eroded section of the Cam River bank with soil and rocks to prevent further erosion.

The Nghi Thuan Bridge, spanning the Cam River and part of the N5 road project (section 2), is currently under construction. The construction unit has filled in a large portion of the Cam Riverbed to create a temporary access road connecting to the bridge. Heavy rains from September 14th to 18th caused the Cam River to flow strongly. Due to the narrowing and redirection of the river's course, the water encroached deep into the residential area of Hamlet 10, Nghi Thuan Commune. As a result, the right bank of the Cam River in this area suffered a landslide spanning 200 meters in length and 15 meters in width. The river swept away nearly 100 timber trees planted by local residents along the riverbank and 12 stalls belonging to vendors at the temporary market. On September 17th, after inspecting the site, Deputy Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Dinh Viet Hong directed the Management Board of the Southeast Economic Zone and the Nghi Loc District People's Committee to urgently implement measures to address the landslide and ensure the safety of the affected residents.
