Quynh Luu District Youth Union: Teaching swimming to children

(Baonghean.vn)- On the afternoon of July 21, Quynh Luu District Youth Union opened a swimming class for 50 children in Ngoc Son commune.

Quynh Luu is a district with a long coastline and many pristine beaches. In addition, there are many canals, lakes, dams, streams and two large rivers. In the first six months of the year, Quynh Luu district had six drowning accidents, resulting in nine deaths. The most serious was the drowning accident in Quynh Long commune and the most recent was in Quynh Hoa commune.

Swimming classes attract a large number of children to participate.

In order to prevent drowning, increase the rate of people who know how to swim in the community and raise awareness of parents in caring for and protecting children during the summer, Quynh Luu District Youth Union has organized swimming classes in different communes. During 10 days, nearly 50 children will be directly instructed and taught swimming and first aid skills by volunteers who are union members and village secretaries. From there, it will help children improve their health, improve their self-confidence when going into the water, and minimize the risk of drowning.
