Quynh Luu District Youth Union: Teaching swimming to children.

(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of July 21st, the Quynh Luu District Youth Union inaugurated a swimming class for 50 children in Ngoc Son commune.

Quynh Luu district has a long coastline with many relatively unspoiled beaches. In addition, it has numerous canals, lakes, dams, streams, and two major rivers. In the first six months of the year, Quynh Luu district experienced six drowning accidents resulting in nine child deaths. The most serious incidents were in Quynh Long commune and most recently in Quynh Hoa commune.

The swimming class attracts a large number of children.

To prevent drowning and increase the swimming proficiency of the community, while also raising awareness among parents about the importance of protecting their children during the summer, the Quynh Luu District Youth Union organized swimming classes in various communes. Over a period of 10 days, nearly 50 children will be directly guided and taught swimming and first aid skills in case of accidents by volunteer youth union officials and village youth union secretaries. This will help improve their health, build self-confidence in the water, and minimize the risk of drowning.
