According to Mr. Mạnh's report, on the afternoon of October 15th, Mr. Nguyễn Ánh Mạnh and his wife, Nguyễn Thị Thu, carefully locked their doors before going to care for their young child at Quế Phong District Hospital. About two hours later, Ms. Thu returned home to get some things and discovered that their bedroom had been broken into by thieves.

The homeowner's safe was cut open from the back.

An inspection revealed that the safe in the house had been cut open from the back, and some gold and cash, estimated at around 15 million VND, had been stolen. The scene indicated that the thieves had climbed over the wall at the back, pried open the door to break into the house, and then used the homeowner's hammer and knife to break open the safe.
