According to Manh’s report, on the afternoon of October 15, Nguyen Anh Manh and his wife, Nguyen Thi Thu, carefully locked the door and went to take care of their child at Que Phong District Hospital. About two hours later, Thu returned home to get her things and discovered that the family’s bedroom had been broken into.

An inspection found that the safe in the house had been cut open from the back and an estimated amount of gold and money worth around 15 million VND had been stolen. The scene showed that the thief had climbed over the back door, broken into the house, and then used the homeowner’s hammer and knife to break the safe.
