((Baonghean.vn) - On November 25th, in Vinh City, the National Agricultural Extension Center, in coordination with the Nghe An Provincial Agricultural Extension Center, inaugurated a training course on product preservation technology on offshore fishing vessels for fishermen in coastal districts of Nghe An province.

From November 25-27, 40 fishermen received training from instructors at the National Agricultural Extension Center on the necessity of switching to new seafood preservation technologies on board vessels, the advantages, and investment requirements of these new technologies.

The fishermen, representing over 5,000 fishing workers in the province, attended the course.

Currently, due to the increasing size of fishing vessels, fishing technology and processes have fundamentally changed from vertical to horizontal sonar. To enhance the value of the catch, preservation technology must be changed accordingly.

Accordingly, fishermen, who previously used fish storage tanks made of styrofoam or wooden crates, have now switched to using PU Foam, a thicker and harder synthetic foam, to preserve seafood for a longer period and with higher quality, helping fishermen save costs.

In addition to training to familiarize themselves with the new technological process, the fishermen also had the opportunity to visit a practical model of a new technology-based storage facility invested in by some fishermen who built new boats according to Decree 67/CP in Nghi Thiet commune, Nghi Loc district.
