Toc Tien's bland performance in her first movie

In Old Man, Beauty and Gangster, Toc Tien plays Quynh Cherry. Having graduated with a degree in Fashion Design, Quynh Cherry has not found a permanent job. She makes a living from her DJ skills and hobbies in bars. During a night of performing, she witnessed gangs fighting each other and recorded the incident. That same night, Quynh Cherry stole five diamonds from a criminal gang and was hunted down. On the way, she met old man Toi (Hoai Linh). Both experienced funny and sad situations.

In the first half of the film, Toc Tien plays the role of a reckless and rebellious DJ quite well. In the dancing and acting scenes in the bar, the beauty exudes the spirit of a sexy girl as well as quickly handles social situations. These short scenes show Toc Tien's most natural acting.

After that, the singer's acting became bland because her character lacked a goal to act. During the adventure with Hoai Linh's character, Quynh Cherry always said reckless, unruly and disrespectful words to the elderly. These shocking and unreasonable responses made viewers lose sympathy for the young beauty. In the action scenes, Toc Tien also did not have eye-catching fighting scenes even though she had practiced martial arts during filming. Overall, Toc Tien's acting in her first film showed that she needed to transform and practice more to become an actress if she wanted to move into cinema.

Toc Tien is one of the three main actors in the film, along with Hoai Linh and Thuong Tin. While Hoai Linh plays the role of Mr. Toi, an old man searching for his missing wife, Thuong Tin plays the role of a gangster boss who has a grudge against Mr. Toi. The film's script is not complete, so the two famous actors cannot take advantage of their roles. Hoai Linh makes the most impression with the cross-dressing scenes, which is his forte. In the remaining scenes, the male artist still shows his acting style that is more theatrical and conventional than cinematic. Thuong Tin takes advantage of the angular appearance, but his character is not complex, so he does not have the opportunity to shine.

The most impressive thing in the movie is the mentally handicapped gangster brothers Ngo and Nghe, played by Duc Thinh and Kieu Minh Tuan. The two supporting actors make the audience laugh with their silly but not over-the-top comedy.

The Old Man, the Beauty and the Gangster was written by actress Thanh Thuy and her husband, director Duc Thinh. The film is a mixture of comedy, adventure and action. While the action scenes are not very dramatic and eye-catching, the film brings laughter through dialogue and the exchange scenes between the comedians.

The movie will be released in Vietnamese theaters from December 24.
