"The world will witness the decline of the West"
According to French Islam expert Alexandre del Valle, the coming years will see the world revolve around conflicts in the Middle East and witness the decline of the West.
Political commentator Professor Alexandre del Valle told the French newspaper Atlantico that Western countries will gradually lose their long-standing position on the international stage. “We will begin a century with the gradual and continuous decline of the West. That does not mean that its influence will disappear completely, but Western countries will no longer have hegemony or ideological or intellectual influence,” he said.
According to Mr. Valle, in the new global civilization system, Western values will be less and less valued.

Another important point that Mr. Valle analyzed is the emergence of a multipolar world. The clear evidence is the strategic increase of Russia and China, the rise of India and the return to the leading group of Iran, Turkey and Egypt.
These developments show that globalization is not really working and that the world that emerges after the Cold War will be shaped by the formation of geopolitical and ideological poles, gradually moving away from Western dominance.
“A new Russia will not allow the Americans and their Western allies to destabilize friendly institutions and attack direct interests in the name of human rights,” he added.
Referring to humanity’s future challenges, Mr. Valle focused on energy dependence. “The Gulf states will likely become the center of the world and the main sponsors of radical Islam. So there is a link between the fight against terrorism and the energy transition,” he said.
De Valle is a well-known French author with right-wing views. He has been critical of those who oppose the United States, Israel, and liberalism. However, Mr. Valle believes that Russia should join the strategic alliance between the United States and the European Union instead of associating with countries that oppose the United States.
