(Baonghean.vn) - Ten statues suspected to be made of ivory, weighing a total of 9kg, were discovered and seized by authorities from a passenger bus.
At approximately 11:45 AM on November 23rd, on National Highway 1A, near Vinh University, the Traffic Police Team - Department of Administrative Management of Social Order (PC64) of Nghe An Provincial Police conducted an administrative inspection of a passenger bus with license plate UF-3555 traveling from Vientiane (Laos) to Hanoi.

During the inspection, authorities discovered 10 statues suspected to be made of ivory, weighing a total of 9kg, being transported in the vehicle.
The driver and his assistant (both Lao nationals) were unable to produce documents proving the legal origin of the suspected ivory statues. Initially, the two suspects confessed that they were hired to transport the statues from Vientiane to Hanoi.

PC64 has now handed over the seized evidence and vehicles to the Economic and Corruption Crime Investigation Police Department (PC46) of Nghe An Provincial Police for further investigation and handling according to their authority.
