Bus carrying 10 statues suspected to be made of ivory arrested

(Baonghean.vn)- 10 statues suspected to be made of ivory with a total weight of 9kg were discovered and seized by authorities from a passenger bus.

At around 11:45 a.m. on November 23, on National Highway 1A, passing Vinh University, the Order Police Team - Department of Administrative Management of Social Order (PC64) of Nghe An Provincial Police administratively inspected a passenger car with license plate UF-3555 traveling from Vientiane (Laos) to Hanoi.

PC64 Police Team sealed the evidence.

During the inspection, authorities discovered 10 statues suspected to be made of ivory with a total weight of 9kg on the vehicle.

The driver and the assistant (both Lao nationals) could not produce documents proving the legal origin of the suspected ivory statues. Initially, the two subjects admitted that the statues were hired by someone to be transported from Vientiane to Hanoi.

The bus was carrying suspected ivory.

Currently, PC64 has handed over the exhibits and vehicles to the Economic and Official Crime Investigation Police Department (PC46) of Nghe An Provincial Police to continue investigating and handling according to authority.
