List of 21 bottled water production facilities violating quality

(Baonghean.vn) - The Department of Science and Technology proposed that the Provincial People's Committee direct the Department of Health to temporarily suspend the operations of 21 bottled water production and trading establishments that violated quality regulations in production.

According to the report of the Interdisciplinary Inspection Team, 21 establishments producing and trading bottled drinking water and mineral water had 21 water samples that did not meet the announced standards and contained dangerous bacteria, which were violations of quality in production.

Pursuant to Decree 80/2013/ND-CP of the Government regulating administrative sanctions for violations in the field of standards, measurement and quality of products and goods, the Inspectorate of the Department of Science and Technology has imposed administrative sanctions on these 21 establishments with a total fine of 35.5 million VND, forcing the recall of all batches of violating goods.

Hang Hieu business household is one of 21 establishments violating quality standards in the production of bottled drinking water.

Nawa brand bottled water has water samples that do not meet quality standards according to announced standards.

However, because the violations of these establishments producing drinking water and bottled mineral water are serious and affect the health of consumers, in addition to administrative sanctions according to regulations, in conclusion No. 955/KL-KHCN-TTra dated November 10, 2015, the Department of Science and Technology recommended that the Provincial People's Committee direct the Department of Health to consider suspending operations for a period of time until there is evidence that these establishments have taken measures to correct the violations.

For facilities using fake test results, the Department of Science and Technology also recommended that the Provincial People's Committee direct the Department of Health to suspend operations and revoke licenses; forcing these facilities to conduct quality testing as well as re-declare conformity according to regulations.

Previously, Nghe An Newspaper reported that during the inspection process, the province's interdisciplinary inspection team discovered that 21/37 samples did not meet the quality standards announced. Specifically, the main indicators that did not meet the standards were microorganisms such as E.Coli, Coliforms, and Sulfite. Among them, many water samples contained Pseudomonas bacteria (scientific name: Pseudomonas).
