Tran Quoc Hoan – a steadfast and loyal revolutionary pioneer.

(Baonghean.vn) - During 70 years of revolutionary activity, through many periods and in various positions, Comrade Tran Quoc Hoan was entrusted by the Party with important tasks at crucial moments in the revolutionary cause of our Party.

Immediately after the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Comrade Tran Quoc Hoan actively participated in movements demanding freedom and democracy, as well as movements demanding the release of political prisoners, which were then flourishing in France and Indochina.

Based on his revolutionary activities, Comrade Tran Quoc Hoan had the honor of joining the Indochinese Communist Party in March 1934.

During his revolutionary activities, he was captured and imprisoned by the enemy many times. Despite being subjected to extremely brutal torture, he always upheld the spirit of solidarity and struggle, transforming the imperialist prison into a revolutionary school.

Learning from and emulating the fighting spirit and sacrifices of comrades Tô Hiệu and Trường Chinh, he was always respected by his fellow political prisoners and elected as the Party branch secretary. With his courage, intelligence, sensitivity, and persuasive talent, Trần Quốc Hoàn skillfully carried out political work with the prison guards to free many political prisoners, enabling them to return and supplement the Viet Minh Front with a team of leading cadres for the revolutionary struggle to seize power in August 1945.

Based on his revolutionary activities, Comrade Tran Quoc Hoan was entrusted by the Party with many important positions: From 1937 to 1939, he participated in the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, serving as Deputy Secretary, and later as Secretary of the Hanoi City Party Committee.

Being relentlessly pursued by the enemy, in May 1940, he was assigned by the Party to work at the "Liberation Flag" newspaper printing house. Later, he was in charge of the Northern Regional Party Committee's communication station, and also served as the Head of the Steering Committee for the revolutionary movement in the two provinces of Bac Ninh and Bac Giang.

Comrade Tran Quoc Hoan overcame countless hardships and dangers, facing relentless pursuit by French secret agents, to successfully mobilize the people to support the Bac Son guerrilla team and build the revolutionary base in the Yen The region. In April 1945, after his second release from prison, Tran Quoc Hoan was appointed by the Central Committee of the Party as Secretary of the Northern Regional Party Committee, directly participating in the preparation and direction of the General Uprising in Hanoi and the northern provinces; contributing much effort and intellect alongside the entire Party, people, and army to the August General Uprising, achieving victory throughout the country.

After the country gained independence, in response to the demands of the revolution in the new phase, Comrade Tran Quoc Hoan relinquished his position as Secretary of the Northern Regional Party Committee and took on the important responsibility of being the Central Party's envoy in Hanoi.

In that capacity, Comrade Tran Quoc Hoan made many important contributions to suppressing internal enemies and foreign invaders, helping to protect the sovereignty and independence of the nation during its nascent period.

During the nine years of resistance against French colonialism, Comrade Tran Quoc Hoan directly monitored and directed the 60-day and 60-night battle in Hanoi and Zone I. Subsequently, he held positions as Secretary of the Zone II Party Committee, Secretary of the Zone X Party Committee, and Secretary of the Hanoi Special Zone Party Committee. In every position he held, he excelled in fulfilling his assigned duties.

After peace was restored in 1954, he was appointed by the Central Committee as Minister of Public Security, concurrently serving as Secretary of the Hanoi City Party Committee, directly responsible for taking over the capital city in accordance with the directives of the Central Committee and President Ho Chi Minh.

Throughout his revolutionary career, Comrade Tran Quoc Hoan served as a member of the Central Committee of the Party for over 30 years (1951-1980), a member of the Politburo and the Central Military Commission for over 20 years (1960-1982), and a National Assembly delegate from the 2nd to the 7th terms; he also spent 28 years in charge of the Public Security sector, including many years as Minister.

In 1982, at the 5th National Congress of the Party, he was again elected to the Central Committee of the Party, holding the position of Head of the Central Committee's Mass Mobilization Department.

With his talent and spirit of self-study and self-improvement, he strived tirelessly to dedicate his entire life to the glorious cause of the Party and the nation.
