Tran Quoc Hoan - a loyal revolutionary predecessor
(Baonghean.vn)- During 70 years of revolutionary activities, through many periods and in many different positions, comrade Tran Quoc Hoan was assigned important tasks by the Party at important times in the revolutionary career of our Party.
Immediately after the Communist Party of Vietnam was founded, comrade Tran Quoc Hoan actively participated in movements to fight for freedom and democracy and the movement to release political prisoners, which were developing rapidly in France and Indochina at that time.
From his revolutionary activities, comrade Tran Quoc Hoan was honored to join the ranks of the Indochinese Communist Party in March 1934.

During his revolutionary activities, he was arrested and imprisoned by the enemy many times. Despite being brutally tortured by the enemy, he always upheld the spirit of solidarity and struggle, turning the imperial prison into a revolutionary school.
Learning from and setting an example of the fighting spirit and sacrifice of comrades To Hieu and Truong Chinh, he was always respected by his fellow political prisoners and elected as Party cell secretary. With his courage, intelligence, sensitivity and persuasive talent, Tran Quoc Hoan cleverly worked with the prison guards to free many escaped political prisoners and return to the Viet Minh Front, adding a team of cadres to lead the struggle for power in the August 1945 revolution.

From his revolutionary activities, comrade Tran Quoc Hoan was trusted by the Party and appointed to hold many important positions: From 1937 to 1939, he participated in the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, served as Deputy Secretary, then Secretary of the Hanoi City Party Committee.
Being relentlessly hunted by the enemy, in May 1940, he was assigned by the Party to work at the "Liberation Flag" newspaper printing house. He was then in charge of the Traffic Station of the Northern Regional Party Committee, and concurrently Head of the Steering Committee for the revolutionary movement of the two provinces of Bac Ninh and Bac Giang.
He overcame thousands of hardships and dangers in the face of relentless pursuit by French secret police to successfully complete the campaign to mobilize people to support the Bac Son Guerrilla Team and build a revolutionary base in the Yen The region. In April 1945, after being released from prison for the second time, Tran Quoc Hoan was appointed by the Party Central Committee as Secretary of the Bac Ky Regional Party Committee, directly participating in preparing and directing the General Uprising in Hanoi and the Northern provinces; contributing much effort and intelligence with the entire Party, people and army to the August General Uprising to win victory throughout the country.

After the country gained independence, according to the requirements of the revolution in the new period, comrade Tran Quoc Hoan ceased to hold the position of Secretary of the Northern Regional Party Committee and transferred to the important position of Central Party representative in Hanoi.
In that position, comrade Tran Quoc Hoan made many important contributions to suppressing internal and external enemies, contributing to protecting the country's independence and sovereignty in its infancy.
During the 9 years of resistance war against French colonialism, comrade Tran Quoc Hoan was directly responsible for monitoring and directing the 60-day and night battle in the capital Hanoi and Inter-zone I. Later, he held the positions of Secretary of Inter-zone II Party Committee, Secretary of Inter-zone X Party Committee, Secretary of Hanoi Special Zone Party Committee. In any position, he always excellently completed the assigned tasks.
Peace was restored in 1954, he was appointed by the Central Committee as Minister of Public Security, concurrently Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee, directly responsible for taking over the capital according to the direction of the Central Committee and Uncle Ho.
During his revolutionary career, comrade Tran Quoc Hoan was a member of the Party Central Committee for more than 30 years (1951-1980), a member of the Politburo for more than 20 years, a member of the Central Military Commission (1960-1982), a National Assembly delegate from the 2nd to the 7th terms; 28 years in charge of the Public Security sector, including many years as Minister.
In 1982, at the 5th National Congress of the Party, he was re-elected to the Party Central Committee, holding the position of Head of the Central Mass Mobilization Commission.
With his talent and spirit of self-study and self-training, he has strived tirelessly to dedicate his whole life to the glorious cause of the Party and the nation.
