The national brand symbol for the handicraft industry is a harmonious combination of the conical hat, a handicraft product very familiar to Vietnamese women and the country's leading artisans, and the lotus flower, symbolizing the Vietnamese spirit. The symbol represents progress and development based on sustainable values, which is what sets the country's handicraft industry apart.
The project is supported by the European Union within the framework of the European Trade and Investment Policy Support project. To achieve national branding, businesses must meet 46 criteria, from production to consumption, from sustainability in raw materials to product creation, distribution, and sustainability in the usage process.
Mr. Nguyen Huy Thong, Deputy Director of the Bamboo and Rattan Weaving Company of Ha Nam province, said: "This is a good opportunity for businesses to penetrate the market more easily and promote their brands to the world. This is an opportunity for businesses to seek international markets. Initially, leading businesses will be certified as meeting the standards. Afterwards, the Association will continue to provide training so that more businesses can be granted certification."
According to statistics, the handicraft industry currently employs approximately 1.5 million workers and generates export revenue of about 1.7 billion US dollars annually.
