(Baonghean.vn) - Once a desolate place, home to leprosy patients, life in Pha Day (Chau Binh - Quy Chau) has now improved. The road to the village has been built, water is brought to the fields, and the villagers have learned to read and write.

Pha Day Village, Chau Binh Commune (Quy Chau) is home to 40 households (125 people) of the Thai ethnic group. Pha Day Valley is surrounded by limestone mountains, and in the past, nearly 10 households with leprosy patients lived here in isolation from the outside world to avoid discrimination. |
In the past, to get to Pha Day, people had to cross a steep cliff, and people had to build wooden ladders to climb over. Since 2011, the road from Chau Binh commune center to Pha Day has been opened, the cliffs have been broken up, and travel has become easier and more convenient. In the photo is the location of the steep cliff that used to require ladders, now travel is easier. |

With 27 hectares, sugarcane is the main crop in Pha Day. Sugarcane helps people solve jobs, have a source of income to escape hunger. |
After harvesting, sugar factory trucks come to collect the raw sugarcane, so people no longer have to worry about the market. |
Harvesting raw sugarcane requires a large workforce, while the village's workforce is not enough, so Pha Day villagers have to hire more people from other villages in the commune to ensure progress. |
Pha Day village also has 4 hectares of rice fields, producing two crops per year. People have basically grasped the technical process, from sowing, caring to harvesting. At present, people are sowing rice seedlings, waiting a few days to start planting spring rice. |
People here are also familiar with growing and caring for vegetables and fruits, both to meet their family's needs and to sell to people in the commune for additional income. |
Some families in Pha Day have invested in cement floors, which are both clean and convenient for storing furniture and agricultural products. |
In winter, Pha Day children have enough warm clothes and no longer have to endure the cold like before. |
The concern of the local people and authorities is that the poverty rate in Pha Day is currently at 100%, meaning 40/40 households are poor, most of whom are living in temporary houses. The national grid has not yet reached Pha Day, so people are still disadvantaged and deprived. People often say "Pha Day has eliminated hunger but has not escaped poverty". |
The road has been opened, and every day Pha Day children cycle to school in the commune center. This road also promises to help people develop their internal strength and advantages of fertile land resources to escape poverty. |
