Kong: Skull Island is the second installment of the 2005 blockbuster King Kong, directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts. The first film, set in the early 1930s, tells the story of a group of explorers and documentary filmmakers exploring Skull Island, near Sumatra.

The new film takes place decades after the original story and will take audiences into the “mysterious and dangerous home of the king of the apes.”

According to British actor Tom Hiddleston, who plays the main character in the film, Kong: Skull Island will be staged differently from the films about King Kong and will have a new explanation of the legend of this giant ape. The new episode still sticks to the plot of the original film, but will put King Kong in a new environment with special instincts.

Kong: Skull Island has just completed important scenes in Hawaii and Detroit (USA). The film crew has been in Australia since January 1 and filmed on Stradbroke Island, near Jumping Pin. The scene in the film is a US World War II fighter plane crashing on the beach.

It is known that to film this scene, the film crew had to move many sand dunes on the island to meet the setting of the story about the most famous ape in the world.

“You can’t get near the filming locations. There’s a lot of police and security around those locations,” a visitor to South Stradbroke Island told the Gold Coast News.

The film also stars American actress Brie Larson and veteran actor Samuel L. Jackson. The film is scheduled to be released in March 2017.
