Gas prices have increased by nearly 10,000 VND per cylinder.

On the afternoon of March 31st, several gas companies in Ho Chi Minh City announced that the retail price of gas for consumers will increase by 9,500 VND per 12kg cylinder from April 1st compared to the previous month.

Mr. Tran Van Phuc, Head of Gas Sales Department at Saigon Petro, stated: “From April 1st, the price of SP gas will increase by nearly 800 VND/kg (including VAT), equivalent to 9,500 VND/12kg cylinder compared to the current price. The maximum retail price for consumers in Ho Chi Minh City will be 268,000 VND/12kg cylinder.”

From April 1st, the retail price of gas in Ho Chi Minh City will be 268,000 VND per 12kg cylinder.

Explaining the reason for the price increase, Mr. Phuc said that the CP price (world gas price - PV) for April 2016 was announced at 335 USD/ton, an increase of 30 USD/ton compared to March 2016.

Thus, after a significant price drop at the beginning of the year, gas prices are now showing signs of rising again. Gas prices have increased for two consecutive months, with a total increase of 11,000 VND per 12kg cylinder.
