Previously, on June 29, 2015, Nam Tu Liem District Police (Hanoi) detained Luc Toan Trung (24 years old) for threatening to kill someone. The victim was Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyet (Trung's biological mother).
On June 26, 2015, when she took her grandson home from school, Ms. Tuyet was threatened by Trung with a sharp knife in her face. Terrified, the woman did not dare to react. After that, the 24-year-old man went to his room to get a 50cm long knife and brought it down to slash his mother. Luckily, the victim managed to escape and reported the incident to the police.
When the police arrived, Trung was still in a frenzy, slashing furniture with a knife and cursing loudly. Ms. Tuyet said Trung was addicted to crystal meth and often played the lottery and gambled. About a month ago, he asked his mother to sell the house to get money for business, but Ms. Tuyet refused. People came to offer condolences to the victim's family. |
At around 11pm on April 1, 2014, To Minh Nhat Hai (born in 1981, commonly known as Sin, residing at 100 Nhat Tao, Ward 4, District 10) was high on crystal meth and demanded to open the door to go out and continue playing. Afraid that her son would cause trouble, Ms. Pham Thi H. (born in 1952, Sin's mother) came out to stop him. Sin immediately threatened that if his mother did not let him go out, he would stab her to death.
Thinking that her son would not dare to do anything reckless, Mrs. H. still firmly refused to let Sin go out. Furious, Sin ran to get a knife and stabbed his mother many times. The cold stab of the stoned man went straight into the elderly mother's right chest, causing her to cry out in pain.
While sleeping, he heard his mother's miserable screams. Mr. Tu Minh Dinh M. (Sin's real brother) ran down to see what was happening. Immediately, Mr. M. rushed in to control Sin from behind. Seeing that, Sin pulled the knife out of Mrs. H.'s chest, intending to stab her backwards to escape Mr. M.'s grip. Mr. M.'s wife, Ms. Lan, took a stick and hit Sin on the head to make him faint, to control his crazy actions. However, Sin did not faint but became even more furious.
Fortunately, a couple selling balut eggs passed by and heard the miserable screams. They rushed into the house to help control Sin and reported the incident to the authorities to come down and resolve the matter.

Tran Manh Cuong at the investigation agency. |
At 8:00 a.m. on May 31, while Ms. Nguyen Thi Gam, daughter of Mr. Nguyen Quang Que (1957, residing in Khanh Hau hamlet, Hung Hoa commune, Vinh city, Nghe An) was resting, she was suddenly teased by Tran Manh Cuong (living in the same hamlet) who came from the street. Because Gam was so scared, she tried to resist, but Cuong immediately pulled out a sharp knife that he had hidden in his person and stabbed her 3 times through the pillow near where Ms. Gam was sitting.
Hearing the noise outside, Mr. Que came out of the house and saw his daughter being teased by Cuong. He loudly chased Cuong out of the house. Seeing that Cuong was still trying to cause trouble, Mr. Que grabbed the broom in the corner of the house and ran out to chase Cuong away. A moment later, Cuong returned and grabbed a shovel with an iron blade with a handle about 80cm long and a blade about 20cm long, chasing Mr. Que and hitting him once on the back of the neck. Because he was suddenly hit so hard from behind, Mr. Que did not have time to react and fainted on the spot.
Seeing Mr. Que unconscious, Cuong still did not let go but continued to pull out the sharp knife he had hidden on his person and stabbed Mr. Que twice in the side and forehead before fleeing the scene.
After being arrested, Cuong confessed that after using crystal meth and being high, when passing by Mr. Que's house, Cuong saw Gam lying on the bed in the middle of the yard and intended to tease her for fun. Unexpectedly, when Mr. Que discovered and chased him out of the house, Cuong could not control his actions and seriously injured Mr. Que.
According to Dr. Nguyen Huu Khanh Duy, Director of Thanh Da Drug Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, speaking to the Ho Chi Minh City Women’s Newspaper, “ice” (a form of crystal) is made from synthetic drugs containing the stimulant methamphetamine. Users will certainly become addicted like other drugs. People who first use low doses will experience increased heart rate, breathing rate, increased blood pressure and body temperature, dry mouth, sweating, diarrhea, and loss of appetite. When using high doses, users become talkative, hyperactive, violent, have insomnia, lose the ability to think, and have increased sexual desire. In addition, they will have strange actions due to agitation. In a state of drug high, with crazy hallucinations, extreme excitement, and paranoia to the point of near insanity, crystal meth addicts commit acts of self-destruction or become "devils", causing harm to those around them, even their loved ones... |
