Riyad Mahrez wins Player of the Year award.
The Leicester City star beat Harry Kane, Mesut Ozil, Jamie Vardy and N'Golo Kante to win the most important award from the Professional Footballers' Association this year.

Mahrez, who scored 17 goals and provided 34 assists in 34 matches played (before the voting), was honored at the hotel.Grosvenor was in London on the evening of April 24th - just hours after he and his teammates secured a 4-0 victory against Swansea City. This result brought Leicester closer to their improbable Premier League dream.

Mahrez, an Algerian national, is only the second non-European player to win this award. The first was...Luis Suarez, in 2014 when he was playing for Liverpool. Unlike the Uruguayan striker,Mahrez was virtually unknown when he moved to England to play for Leicester two years ago. His transfer fee at the time was less than one million dollars.
However, in a season that will be remembered for generations in football history, he and his teammates are working wonders. LeicesterCurrently, they are eight points ahead of second-placed Tottenham, who play their match in round 35 later, with only three rounds remaining in the season. Mahrez and his teammates only need five more points in their remaining matches to win the Premier League title.

This season, the 20-year-old midfielder – who joined Tottenham in January 2015 – has scored 10 goals and provided nine assists, helping Tottenham to challenge for the championship. He has also been called up to the England national team six times, scoring in the 2-0 friendly win against France last November.

Ryan Giggs is the recipient of this year's PFA Merit Award.During his time playing for Man Utd, he played 963 matches and won 13 Premier League titles, four FA Cups, and two Champions League titles.
At Man Utd in the past, the legendsAlex Ferguson, Matt Busby, and Bobby Charlton have all been awarded this title. Giggs himself won the PFA Player of the Year award in 2009 and twice won the award in the youth category in 1992 and 1993.
