Nghi Loc: Earns 22 billion VND from shallots
(Baonghean.vn) - Currently, 55 hectares of shallots belonging to farmers in Nghi Lam commune, Nghi Loc district, are in the harvesting season, yielding hundreds of millions of VND per hectare.
Despite unfavorable weather conditions and a prolonged drought affecting the onion crop, the shallots in Nghi Lam, Nghi Loc still thrived, yielding 800 kg of bulbs per sao (approximately 1000 square meters).With a selling price of around 30,000 - 35,000 VND/kg,Each hectare of shallots yields an income of 400 million VND. Divided among households, planting a few acres of shallots brings in tens of millions of VND each.

Ms. Nguyen Thi An from Hamlet 18, Nghi Lam commune, planted 1 sao (approximately 1000 square meters) of hybrid shallots and earned about 25 million VND. Ms. An added that growing shallots is easy, requires low investment costs, and yields high income, so her family will expand the area planted with shallots.
