The Prime Minister has directed a review and support for fishermen affected by the mass fish deaths.

(Baonghean.vn) - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has instructed the People's Committees of the provinces to review and compile statistics on households engaged in aquaculture and fisheries that have suffered losses, and to propose measures to support fishermen in stabilizing their lives.

Deputy Head of the Government Office Nguyen Cao Luc has just issued a document conveying the directives of Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc regarding the unusual mass fish deaths in four coastal provinces from Ha Tinh to Thua Thien - Hue in recent times.

After hearing Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung's report on the field inspection in Ha Tinh, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc instructed the People's Committees of Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, and Thua Thien Hue provinces to review and compile a complete and accurate list of households engaged in aquaculture and fisheries that suffered losses; and to propose measures to support fishermen, especially policy beneficiary households, poor and disadvantaged households, and those who suffered significant and severe losses, to help people stabilize their lives as soon as possible.

The Prime Minister emphasized that no one should go hungry due to the cessation of fishing activities. The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development is responsible for coordinating with relevant agencies to review and compile a report for the Prime Minister's consideration and decision as soon as possible.

Massive fish deaths have occurred in four provinces: Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, and Thua Thien - Hue.

The Prime Minister also instructed the Ministries of Science and Technology, Public Security, National Defense, Industry and Trade, Health, and the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology to proactively coordinate and support the Ministries of Natural Resources and Environment and Agriculture and Rural Development in urgently clarifying the causes of the unusual mass fish deaths in these localities. Based on that, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, in coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, will immediately report to the Prime Minister.

The Ministries of Planning and Investment, Industry and Trade, and Natural Resources and Environment, along with the People's Committees of the provinces of Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien-Hue, and other localities nationwide, should proactively review investment projects in various sectors, especially heavy industry, regarding environmental protection, particularly marine environment protection.

In recent days, public opinion across the country has been stirred by the mass fish deaths along the coast from Vung Ang (Ha Tinh province) to Thua Thien Hue province. Authorities are investigating the cause of the mass fish deaths.
